I will give any book a try if it is based on fairy tale. This book, based upon Cinderella, is an interesting take on the story. The shoe fits someone else, and not just anyone else but one of the stepsisters!?!? Clever! Despite the steamy looking cover, it's very tame. It's fairly well written but there are many parts where I felt that the author was just trying too hard. The ending seemed to come a little quickly as well after a very long build up. Though there was a side-story of the Queen and the Fairy-godmother working together toward the Happily Ever After, I didn't feel like they really had anything to do with it and so their story was more of a distraction. Overall, a cute little read for an afternoon.
I feel that I need to add a further review after reading some other reviews. First, the author has used a little bit of French and a bit of Olde English in her writing. This can be confusing and off-putting to the average reader. Some of the more flowery descriptions may trip up readers who are used to more simple text. Also, Yes, the author includes lyrics from Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella score. But I do NOT consider the way that she did it to be plagiarism. It was done more as a nod or a tribute to that most beloved play. I found it to be a touching addition to the text but some have been aggravated by it. I did find the author's writing a little overdone in some places but it was done well enough and had a fine enough story that I will be buying the rest of the books in the series.

The Wronged Princess book i Cinderella Series eBook Kae Elle Wheeler Reviews

The story of Cinderella. Kind of. Its re-told but its not like anything you've ever heard before in all of your fairytale books.

I love the fact that Cinderella is NOT a blonde. How many times have seen pictures of her and she's blonde? We have always imagined her that way, someone who is fair in appearance with large blue eyes. Well in this story, that image is totally changed. Cinderella is still a beautiful young woman; but she looks nothing like that other fairytale. I liked how the author totally turned this fairytale upside down. I have to admit that I have unintentionally been reading this series, backwards. I was gifted with the third book "The Suprising Enchantress" and read that one first. It proved to be a good story, well able to stand all on its own. This story was the start of it all and it just nice to read about how it all began. I found this story to be a bit tamer but it did keep me reading with moments of laughter when it came to the Prince's trouble with remembering Esmeralda's name. He thought up with some really creative versions.
Now, the only thing missing now is the second book, in the series, " The Unlikely Herione". (Pricilla seems like quite the spunky girl from what I read in both of these books.)

“I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review”
The author adds interesting embellishments to this fairy tale by making the fairy godmother the twin of the Queen. Also laudable is her observation that a shoe could fit any number of young ladies. The Prince could have ended up married to anyone.
I think young readers will enjoy a fairytale with no sex, though it does contain a couple of swear words. There are numerous typos, but the intended meaning of the author is clear. The writing is at times juvenile and for most of the book, I didn't like the main characters. The end wraps up neatly, save we never learn what happened to the stepmother nor why she hated Cinderella so much. Perhaps that is explained in the rest of the series. Author Felicia Mires
This was a different spin on Cinderella. Basically what would happen if the infamous glass slipper fit on one of the step-sisters instead? Throw in a meddling fairy queen and her sister the fairy godmother and you'll get quite an amusing tale. Now some points lost me (like it seemed in the beginning the step sisters were predictably ugly but in the next chapter they were damn near supermodels) and of course the crazy stepmother (who mets a fitting end). I thought the tale was cute as everything that you know about the classic tale was thrown in an uproar but never fail...happily ever after at the end as well as a sneak peek into two more books concerning the almost redeemable step sisters and the love interests that they had from this novel. Go ahead and grab the book, this was a nice tale for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
I just hate it when I read a book by a friend that’s poorly edited. Ms. Wheeler tells a really good story with a much more complex relationship between Ella and her sisters than the usual version of Cinderella. Her stepmother is still the scheming, social climber of the Grimm version, but she doesn’t have to lop off parts of her daughters’ feet to get the shoe to fit. Esmerelda and Cinderella used to swap shoes all the time before the Count died, when the girls were friends. Imagine both Cinderella and the Prince’s horror when the glass slipper slid right onto the wrong foot! And so, the fun begins.

As I said at the beginning, my problem with the book was the editing, or lack thereof. There were mixed tenses, misused words; in short, the grammar was terrible. It really is a shame, because Ms. Wheeler shows a deep knowledge of history and mythology, and her fractured fairy tale would be a great read with better grammar.
I could not finish this book, and believe me I tried!! The book keeps switching one of the stepsister's names. It was distracting and took away from the story.

I was also somewhat offended that Cinderella would be interested in marrying this prince. Personally, I questioned Cinderella's intelligence even more than his.
