ABOUT THE BOOK
I met Michael Jackson once, in 1982, while working on the music video for "Billie Jean." He was quite personable, and incredibly nice to everyone on set. But the thing that impressed me most about him was this he was a professional. Every move he made was intentional. He demanded perfection, but was never cocky or arrogant. He listened to others, but all the moves were 100 percent Michael.
At the time, Michael was already a legend. From the 11 year-old boy belting out songs on The Ed Sullivan Show to the disco smash hit "Rock with You," Michael's voice and image were known world-wide. However, his image was about to change, both literally and figuratively.
MEET THE AUTHOR
Robert Rosenbaum is a seasoned writer with a history on both coasts. As a playwright he has been produced in New York and L.A. As a screenwriter he has written several scripts and filmed a pilot in NYC. Early in his career, he earned a living working on music videos, including breakthrough pieces with The Police, Fleetwood Mac, Toto, and Michael Jackson. After a lifetime in cities, Robert bought a farm in the catskill mountains of NY, and fled the city for "the simple life." He now helps his wife (a Brooklyn artist) manage the horse sanctuary they built at Rosemary Farm. Between morning and evening chores, feeding the 60 or so critters who call the farm home, Robert composes various stories and scripts, and contributes to the farm's website and blog.
EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK
Much has been written about Michael's early childhood. In his book You Are Not Alone Michael Through a Brother's Eyes, Jermaine Jackson recounts stories of growing up in a musical family and how their father pushed and inspired them. Many have called their father, abusive and said he forced them to sing, but according to Jermaine, "singing had come naturally to us, and that passion was our choice. We had sung up a storm long before Joseph had arrived with his rocket fuel."
Entertaining came naturally to Michael. Somewhat shy in person, on stage Michael had audiences on the feet from age seven. Those earliest years, before "Jacksonmania," mostly consisted of small shows and talent contests, which they won repeatedly. It wasn't long before The Jackson 5 got their big break, an audition at Motown arranged by Gladys Knight. Barry Gordy wasn't enthusiastic about the audition. He already had his hands full with little Stevie Wonder. What did he want with an entire family of kids? But Michael's performance convinced him otherwise.

Michael Jackson Remembering a Legend eBook Robert Rosenbaum
I bought this book in hopes of finding author's personal recollections and stories about Michael (as you could expect from the description). But there is almost none of that, it's just a very short bio. There is nothing bad about this book, it's very fair and respectful, but there is nothing new in it either - unless you've been living under a rock and know nothing about MJ.Product details

Michael Jackson Remembering a Legend eBook Robert Rosenbaum Reviews
What a nice reminder of the life of such a talented artist! The flow of the book made it easy to read and follow. The book gave me just enough information to remember the ups and downs of Michael at a time when I was growing up. I enjoyed reflecting back! This is a great version for the younger generation to read and get a clear picture of the ups and downs of the legend Michael Jackson. The last "trivia" fact...really? How cool!
This book contains nothing new that I and I assume most of the general public already know. I am glad that I didn't pay for this book, rather I borrowed it in e-book format from my local library.
I didn't think there was anything new to say about Michael, but this writer captures the scope of his career by weaving in a personal connection using a unique voice. The bio is presented in a clear outline, charting Michael's rise to stardom, including all of the landmark accomplishments, organized and presented in a way that is easy to follow. Author also touches upon various gossip and innuendos without giving them 'power', but just an element to the complex story. The author seems very level headed and neutral, with just enough personal detail at the end to give us a hint of his feeling about this legendary musician.
If you were an alien and needed to read one thing to sum up Michael Jackson's life and effect on world music, 'This is it'.
I haven't actually bought it. I might have done but the reviews were not very encouraging, and the author couldn't even get Michael's date of birth right! It was a shame when he said 28th August, not 29th August, which put me off straightaway. Another book written with great enthusiasm about Michael's tremendous impact on the world, but had the same affect when the authors wrote that Michael died in 2008.
Awesome tale about an amazing artist. Written with passion and details.
Thanks for the lovely read down memory lane. )
Short book just ok. Wasn't, anything I didn't already know. Would not purchase Michael Jackson Remembering A Legend at the store.
this "book" was nothing more than a magazine article. there was nothing new. simply a brief summary of his life. why was it in the novel category? very disappointed.
